By Car:
The most convenient route to Columbia from Downtown and Midtown is the 95th/96th Street exit of the Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway). Use the 95th Street off-ramp and turn left onto Riverside Drive. Proceed north (uptown) to 116th Street. A right turn at 116th Street leads you to the campus gate. From the north, take the Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway) to the 125th Street exit. Turn left on 125th and then north on Broadway (under the elevated subway line) or Amsterdam Ave (the next major intersection) and proceed to the main gates at 116th Street.

Street parking can be found in the neighborhood with persistence. There are parking garages located on 122nd Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, on 120th Street at Riverside Drive, and at 114th Street and Amsterdam Ave. Arrangements can be made for parking if the Department Administrator is notified several days in advance of your arrival.

By Train or Bus:
Trains to New York arrive at Grand Central Station (New Haven and other Metro-North lines) or Pennsylvania Station (Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit), while buses stop at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Taxi fares from these Midtown stations are about $10. Your destination is 116th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.

By Public Transportation:
Four bus lines (M4, M11, M5, M104) and two subway trains (the Broadway IRT Nos. 1 and 9 Local) serve the Columbia/Morningside Heights area from Midtown Manhattan. The Columbia stop is 116th Street. Do NOT use IRT express trains Nos. 2 and 3 which follow a different route and do not stop at Columbia University. If you are on a 2 or 3 train from Midtown, change at 96th street to the 1/9 across the platform.

By Air:
For visitors coming into LaGuardia, Kennedy, or Newark airports, taxi service is available to the campus. Fares are approximately $28 from LaGuardia, $50 from Kennedy, and $60 or more from Newark. Public transportation options exist from all three airports at considerable savings. From Newark and Kennedy there is bus service to Grand Central Station and to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. City bus service directly from LaGuardia airport (the M60) to Columbia is also available ($2 fare). From Newark, you can take the monorail from the terminal directly to a train station; the trains take you to Penn Station. The fare is approximately $11. From Kennedy you can take the "train-to-the-plane" which connects the terminals to the subway system; the combined fare is $7 and the trip takes about 90 minutes. The faster of two routes is to take the airport train to Jamaica station, the E-train from there to 42nd street, and then the number 1/9 train to Columbia.
