We have been discussing "Diversity" in science (and society) for many years. But progress, especially for scientists of color, has been limited. I will discuss briefly how our framing around “STEM” and “filling the pipeline”, and how they have failed to make much impact on who becomes a scientist. What is our vision for an inclusive practice of science? What concrete actions can we take in our departments and beyond to help get us there? Scientists continue to work to convince young minoritized people to join our ranks - and then expose them to departments that much of the time work hard to exclude them. Join me as we consider new ways forward.
