South Africa 2011: Report from the Int'l Conference on Women in Physics

I traveled to Stellenbosch, South Africa in April 2011 as part of the U.S. delegation to the 4th International Conference on Women in Physics, which is held every 3 years at various locations around the globe. I will review the status of women in physics globally and in the U.S., including a discussion of minority groups. The goals of the conference were to not only to identify barriers and share successes, but also to help teams refine and accelerate strategies for improving the status of women in physics. I will give examples of specific recommendations for paths forward.
