Colloquium

Biosignatures vs Technosignatures

The driving theme of the debate is: “National funding agencies currently support research on biosignatures and technosignatures from a limited and finite budget. New funds have suddenly become available but can only be allocated to one of these two efforts. Each participant will argue why bio/technosignatures deserves the increase in funding resources, and not the other." During the 50 minute portion, the time will be split up as follows: 0 - 5 mins: A 2-minute opening statement from you both, we’ll go alphabetically by last name, so that means Andrew starts. 5 - 20 mins: Andrew 15 minute main presentation of argument 20 - 35 mins: Clara 15 minute main presentation of argument 35 - 40 mins: Andrew 5 min rebuttal and closing statement 40 - 45 mins: Clara 5 min rebuttal and closing statement 45 - 50 mins: 2 minute closing statements from both, reverse order
