Professor Kay received her B.S. in Physics and B.A. in Feminist Studies from Stanford University and her Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She is the recipient of an NSF Career Grant and recently co-authored a textbook “21st Century Astronomy.” She is currently serving as the chair of the department of physics and astronomy at Barnard College.
