From September 21- 24, over fifteen members of the Columbia community attended the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) and National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP) joint conference on Global Competitiveness Through Diversity in Austin, TX. Faculty, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students were in attendance for the event which fosters networking and professional development opportunities. In addition to the excellent talks and poster presentations, there were several exciting keynote speakers including: Nobel Laureate, Steven Weinberg, retired astronaut, Piers Sellers, and the South African Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor.
