First Cohort of Summer Research Undergraduates Returns from Santiago Triumphant

This past summer, Columbia College undergraduates Yasmeen Asali and John Staunton spent two months in Santiago doing research in collaboration with members of the Institute of Astrophysics (Pontificia Universidad Católica). The Institute and the Department of Astronomy have held a number of joint meetings and have an ongoing exchange program for graduate students supported by Columbia's President's Global Innovation Fund, but this was their first time creating an exchange opportunity for undergraduates.

Yasmeen and John's experience was a terrific success, as is documented in this article produced by the Santiago Global Center.

We look forward to sending two more undergraduates to Santiago this coming summer!
