If you've managed to access these pages, you've guessed correctly, that I am sitting here in Pupin Hall, home of the Astronomy and Physics departments at Columbia University in New York City. I currently work for the Astrophysics Lab. This pays the bills. I have very little interest in science; my real passion is Art.
It has been since my first formal drawing class as a sophomore at Columbia College. I like to see, explore, and express (this being my personal definition of art). Though I ended up with a BA and an MA in Art History from this university, I'm the first to admit that I'm not really interested in the historical aspects of art; I'm more interested in the creative processes behind the artwork. I'm interested in the artists, the hands that create the artworks. Though it really is difficult to tell what goes on in an artist's mind when he's creating -- I don't know what goes on in mine when I'm making art. Enough said.
Eventually, I would like to set up a homepage containing my own artwork and poetry. Alas, that will have to wait a while (but check back here in the near future).
What else to say? I was born in Manila, The Philippines in 1959. We moved to New York in 75. (Oh yes, I love New York -- it's the only city where I can get from one place to another without a car. I don't drive, but I can walk for miles.) My other interests include reading poetry (I write too when the muse decides to move me), and trashy best-seller novels. My favorite season is autumn when all the warm earth-tone colors appear in the leaves. I like to relax on quiet evenings drinking wine with candlelights and music -- something a true piscean would do. I can listen to anything that doesn't offend my ears -- no rap, no heavy metal -- everything else is fine. I like to go shopping with my female friends, they say I'm a bad influence and I make them buy things (NOT TRUE). Lately, I've been playing a lot of pool at the Amsterdam Billiard Club. I don't think I'm getting any better at it, but I keep trying anyway.
I like getting e-mail, so drop me a line at ff@carmen.phys.columbia.edu.
Thanks for visiting. Ciao, and have a good day!
