I am interested in how technology can help us convey the complex ideas underlying large data sets to each other. My wife and I are attacking this question from different angles; she is realizing intuitive and interactive graphics for science journalism for Popular Science, while I am experimenting with dynamic plots for scientist-to-scientist communication, as well as leveraging the Computer Vision methods.

So far I have been working with a program called Processing, developed by Ben Fry. My work is influenced strongly by the work and lectures of Edward Tufte.

I have made a visualization of The HI Nearby Galaxies Survey data set, as a first proof-of-concept in my exploration of dynamic plots.
