Research Interests

Macarena Lagos is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Astronomy. Previously, she received her Ph.D. at Imperial College London, and held a KICP fellowship at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on connecting fundamental physics to observations, and tackling open questions in gravity and cosmology, such as the nature of dark matter, dark energy, the physics of black holes, and the information carried by gravitational waves. She analyzes different possible descriptions of gravity and scenarios for the Universe's evolution, and develops observational tests to confirm or refute such scenarios.
