Ashley Villar

Simons Junior Fellow, Astronomy

I am a Simons Junior Fellow, interested in time-domain astrophysics from a data-driven perspective. I received my B.S. from MIT in Physics and PhD from Harvard in Astronomy & Astrophysics.

Research Topics

Time-domain astrophysics, supernovae, machine learning

Current Research

I use statistics, data-driven methods and machine learning to study extragalactic transients. I am particularly interested in exotic core-collapse supernovae, kilonovae and real time supernova classification in preparation for the Vera Rubin Observatory.
