Imre Bartos Named 2020 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow

Bartos, an astrophysicist of multimessenger science with black hole and neutron star mergers, is a member of the LIGO/LSC team who discovered cosmic gravitational waves in 2015. Professor Bartos, an influential Columbia University/GECo scientist then, contributed to both the experiments and the science of gravitational-waves. In 2017 Bartos joined the mighty University of Florida Team continuing his pioneering research. Today The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation announced that Professor Bartos is the recipient of the 2020 Sloan Research Fellowship recognizing researchers for “distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field.” Please join us in congratulating Professor Bartos on this extraordinary success and wish him wonderful discoveries in the future!
