The Columbia campus on Morningside Heights is located at Broadway and 116th Street in Manhattan. In order to get to Pupin Physics Laboratory, you need to enter the main campus at 116th Street. Pupin Physics Lab is now locked at all times, so be sure to arrange to meet your host ahead of time.
By Car
From Downtown, Midtown, New Jersey and all points north and west: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to 125th Street. Exit and follow 125th until it intersects Broadway. Turn right (south) on Broadway. Pupin Hall is located near Broadway and 116th Street, and parking is available on both.
From the East Side, Long Island, Connecticut and Queens: Take the FDR Drive or the RFK Triborough Bridge (via the BQE, I-95, I-87 or the LIE) to 125th Street. Follow it west to Broadway. Turn left (south) on Broadway. Pupin Hall is located near Broadway and 116th Street, and parking is available on both.
There are parking garages located on 122nd Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, on 120th Street at Riverside Drive, and at 114th Street and Amsterdam Ave.
By Train or Bus
Trains to New York arrive at Grand Central Station (MetroNorth) or Pennsylvania Station (Amtrak, Long Island Railroad and New Jersey Transit), while buses stop at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Taxi fares from these Midtown stations are about $40. Your destination is 116th Street and Broadway. By Subway, from Penn Station, take the 1 Train to 116th and Broadway. From Grand Central Take the Shuttle train to Times Square and transfer to the 1.
By Public Transportation
Four bus lines (M4, M11, M5, M104) and one subway line (the 1 Local Train) serve the Columbia/Morningside Heights area from Midtown Manhattan. The Columbia stop is 116th Street. Do NOT use the express trains Nos. 2 and 3 which follow a different route and do not stop at Columbia University. If you are on a 2 or 3 train from Midtown, change at 96th street to the 1 across the platform.
By Air
For visitors coming into LaGuardia, Kennedy, or Newark airports, taxi service is available to the campus. Fares are approximately $50 from LaGuardia, $80 from Kennedy, and $90 from Newark. Public transportation options exist from all three airports at considerable savings.
From LaGuardia airport the M60 bus provides express service to Manhattan, via 125th Street, stopping at 116th Street and Broadway.
From Newark buses run to the Port Authority Bus terminal. NJTransit service from Newark to Penn Station is a faster, slightly more expensive option. Either option delivers you to the No. 1 subway line which you can take Uptown to 116th and Broadway.
From Kennedy, a public transit option is the Air-Train to Jamaica Station in Queens. From there the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) provies rapid service to Penn Station, where you can again transfer to the 1 Subway line (uptown) to 116th and Broadway. The total cost is under $20.
