Colloquium by Yong Zheng, RPI

Modern hydrodynamical simulations show that stellar feedback in dwarf galaxies can drive large quantities of metals out of the galaxies following episodes of star formation. And these metals may now be retained in the circumgalactic medium (CGM) or have lost to the vast intergalactic medium. In this talk, I'll show recent progress to assess the retention rate of metals in the CGM of nearby dwarf galaxies. I will also present observational effort to extensively map warm ionized outflows in nearby dwarf galaxies down to ~pc scales, and quantify the relation between outflow velocities and stellar feedback strength at a low-mass regime.

Followed by wine and cheese.
