Professor Metzger received his B.S. at the University of Iowa and his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley in 2009. He was a NASA Einstein Fellow at Princeton, before joining the Columbia Department of Physics in 2013.
Research Topics
supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, compact objects, accretion processes, time-domain astronomy, gravitational wave sources.
Current Research
My research is in theoretical high energy astrophysics, including gamma-ray bursts; supernovae; accretion processes; compact objects; nucleosynthesis (astrophysical origin of the elements); and the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave sources.
