I understand complicated astrophysical plasma by conducting the most accurate possible simulations. The most powerful lightnings of the universe send their signals towards us and are captured by the most amazing arrays of telescopes. To understand their origin, we rely on astonishing laboratory experiments and – what I am most excited about – numerical simulations in powerful computers. We create the conditions of the most extreme environments of the universe in virtual laboratories: black holes, neutron stars, and other exciting plasma reservoirs. Then, we model non-linear processes and their radiation signature with the greatest possible accuracy.
