The Department is celebrating Prof Lorenzo Sironi this week, who was among the nearly 400 scientists and engineers who were awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers early in their careers. Prof Sironi’s was one of 55 PECASE awardees supported through the Department of Energy, with his research being focused on “The interplay of reconnection and turbulence in relativistic plasmas: the case of black hole accretion flows and coronae".
